1. Donation mat from Giving back – a Carglass® initiative
Once again, we would like to use the participants’ sports spirit of the CCTW 2014 to support those in need of help.
For the first time, we offered a donation opportunity in combination with the CCTW registration this year and are pleased with the results and the athletes’ willingness to help. We really want to thank everyone who has taken advantage of this possibility and made a donation to Giving Back.
In addition, at the CCTW we will also offer a donation mat for the Carglass® charity “Giving Back” on the running course and hope that many of you will use it. This gives every runner the chance to show their interest in social engagement and agreeing to donate 3 Euro to people in need by simply running over the mat. We hope that many of you will participate in this opportunity.
302 runners used this chance during the CCTW 2013, so we were able to send about 1,900 Euros to Giving Back. This year we would like to top it. The money from 2013 was given to help support such as, the Cologne Children’s Hospital, amongst others, which desperately needed a car for house visits by the visiting nurses.
We are also lucky to have many prominent participants starting the races. At last year’s CCTW, Ulrike Von der Groeben, Shary Reeves and Florian Ambrosius started as the Star-Team for Giving Back and were able to raise 5,000.00 Euro for the charity, thanks to some very generous sponsors. The TV presenter and former soccer pro, Shary Reeves will start again this year. We are also looking forward to our three guests from South Africa, who will start as a team for the initiative “Afrika Tikkun”, which we also support. It will be an exciting and motivating experience for the young South African athletes, who will take home some of the CCTW spirit after that weekend.
Giving Back helps not only financially, but also with personal engagement. Nationwide, Carglass® workers are active in social facilities and projects to support for example, the Cologne Children’s Hospital summer festival with a colorful program for the little patients and their families.
Share some of your energy with those in need and actively help the Giving Back charity projects with 3 Euro, by simply running over the donation mat.
By running over the mat, each participant declares his or her agreement that his or her personal data (name and email address) can be provided to Giving Back.
After the event, time2 finish, which also supports this project, will send everyone who stepped on the mat a request to transfer the money.
Where is the donation mat?
On Saturday and Sunday there will be a donation mat from “Giving back”. On Saturday, the mat will be placed shortly after leaving the transition zone or right before the 7thK. The athletes in the CologneSmart and the CologneOlympic can hit the mat twice.
On Sunday, the mat will be in Cologne’s historic district right before the Carglass® supply station in front of the winding stairs. At the Cologne226 race you will have three opportunities to pass the mat (around the 13K, 27K, and 41K) and at Cologne226half there will be two opportunities (around the 9.5K and 20K).

The German Financial Office will accept your account print-out showing the transfer as charity proof, for up to 200.00 Euros.
For higher donations, Giving Back will issue a tax-office-recognized donation receipt (for this, the donor must provide his or her mailing address to which the receipt needs to be issued to).
